Why the digital product passport generates more effort than impact without the right platform

Custom in-house solutions tie up time, budget, and teams

Developing individual DPP implementations requires months of planning, interface development, and coordination between IT, product management, and compliance teams. Ongoing maintenance is also necessary.

Point solutions meet obligations but deliver limited value

Many tools address single requirements in isolation. What’s missing is an integrated platform that connects compliance, data management, marketing, and service in a structured, scalable way.

Regulatory requirements evolve faster than IT projects

Legal frameworks are constantly changing. Rigid systems or one-off implementations cannot keep pace — creating continuous catch-up work and additional effort.

Frequently asked questions

FAQ - Digital Product Passport & Compliance

What is a Digital Product Passport (DPP)?

The Digital Product Passport (DPP) is a structured digital record that consolidates product-related information such as regulatory requirements, origin, sustainability aspects, and usage instructions.

It provides companies with a reliable foundation for EU compliance and transparency across the entire value chain.

Beyond regulatory obligations, the DPP also enables additional benefits: interactive customer communication, data-driven insights, and new service or business models throughout the product lifecycle.

For which products is a DPP mandatory?

The EU is gradually introducing the Digital Product Passport for selected product groups, including batteries, electrical and electronic equipment, as well as other industrial and consumer goods. The goal is to improve transparency, traceability, and circularity throughout the product lifecycle.

What data must be included in the DPP?

The required data depends on the product group. Typical information includes material composition, production or batch details, supply chain data, as well as safety, energy, or recycling information. Narravero helps structure, maintain, and make this data transparently available in a traceable and auditable way.

Do I have to have my own IT team for the implementation?

No. Narravero is offered as a SaaS solution and can be deployed without extensive in-house development. Existing data sources can be integrated, making it possible to start with the Digital Product Passport without a large IT project.

How does the DPP help with audits and requests from authorities?

All relevant information is documented and versioned in a traceable manner. Changes, approvals, and histories are transparent and can be structured for audits or requests from authorities.

Can the DPP also support my sustainability goals?

Yes. In addition to regulatory information, sustainability and ESG-relevant data can be included in the DPP and used for communication, internal management, or reporting purposes.

Can I map several roles or target groups?

Yes. Different roles and audiences can be managed through tiered access and visibility concepts. End customers, internal teams, and external auditors each see only the information relevant to them.

How quickly can I start?

Implementation is possible in a short timeframe. Since no in-house development is required, initial Digital Product Passports can be created and operated quickly.
